Our Workgroups

Expanded Learning

Mission Statement: “Establish and provide accessible, high quality, student driven expanded learning opportunities to all D69 students before, during, and after school.”

2018-19 Focus Areas:

  • Increase overall awareness of the opportunities that are available for all students
  • Identify additional Grades K-2 outside of school opportunities
  • Administer student interest survey to students in grades 3-8 to be used to develop and inform programming.
  • Identify “special activities” to implement on early release days during school hours

Family and Community Engagement

Mission Statement: “The mission of the Family and Community Engagement work group is to bring together and empower families, schools, and community partners to build meaningful relationships that positively impact our students’ lives.”

2018-19 Focus Areas:

  • Establish volunteer family ambassadors program to personally welcome new families to D69 and connect them with interest areas.
  • Develop menu of volunteer opportunities, including description of those opportunities
  • Develop family programming with main purpose on engagement and connection
  • Continued Parent Educational and Leadership opportunities

Health and Wellness

Mission Statement: “Our mission is to foster a culture of health and empower our community to engage resources that support comprehensive wellness.”

2018-19 Focus Areas:

  • Develop a series of parent education seminars focused on mental health topics
  • Establish trauma informed practices training for staff and parents
