STEM and Literacy:

Through hands-on activities and exploration, students will work to solve two problems. First, students will design a package that can be airdropped to people in need of supplies after a natural disaster. Students will also help NASA design a flying object to take photographs to help monitor the weather.  Students will sharpen their literacy skills by reading about theses topics to help them in solving the problems.

Students will play math games and activities that review skills from the previous and next grade. The goal is to make this portion of Summer Exploration fun and engaging for students, so a majority of math practice will be done in collaborative groups facilitated by the teacher. Students will be encouraged to try some of these games with their family at home as well!

Summer Camp:

Skokie Park District will host a summer camp exclusively for our Summer Exploration students in the afternoon at Madison. Students will have the opportunity to expand on their learning by participating in activities that align to our Summer Exploration curriculum. There will also be swimming once per week and 2 field trips!

10 spots will be open per grade level. Priority will be given to students who can commit to attending all 4 weeks of camp.
