    The study of competitive robotics not only encompasses all four pillars of STEM education, but also encourages important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and project-based organization. The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation exists to bring this exciting experience to students all over the globe through the VEX IQ Challenge, VEX Robotics Competition, and VEX U.

    This club is intended for students who have attended Robotics Club in the past who want to try their hands in more advanced or competitive projects.

  • Battle of the Books

    Learning Commons - Library

    The Battle of the Books Club will get students excited and engaged in reading a variety of books. Students will read picture books, chapter books, and novels, both fiction and non-fiction, and discuss these books in class. Students will be put on teams, with each team being responsible for reading a set list of books. Students will also participate in an interactive read aloud that will model fluency and help them make predictions, summarize, and make connections to other texts. At the end of the 8-week session, students will participate in a battle with other teams, answering questions about the books they have read.

    The goal of the Science Olympiad Team is to provide opportunities for students to enhance their understanding of STEM in District 69. So many different events to explore: from bridge building to aerodynamics, biology to mystery powders! The Science Olympiad Team will provide an avenue for all students to enhance their knowledge and skills through hands on approaches using Science Olympiad event activities. This activity will culminate in attending a local Science Olympiad, where a select group of participants will be competing against other elementary schools in the area. Please note, due to the state competition associated the Science Olympiad, students are required to be enrolled in both the Fall and Winter sessions.

    Become an Edison Super Scholar by joining our afterschool homework club! Y.O.U. staff work to support youth in small, age-level groups working on homework assignments, build study habits, engage in academic skill-Building games, and provide a place for youth to complete their 20-30 minutes of required daily reading. Please note, youth enrolled in the Edison Super Scholars club must be picked up at Edison School by a caregiver no later than 5 PM daily. There is no bus transportation available.
